| The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) was founded in 1915 by a group of international women's suffragists who met at the Hague in the Netherlands. They sought ways to end the war in Europe so they could return to the struggle for their full inclusion as women in the political decisions of their countries. Two of WILPF's founders, Jane Addams and Emily Greene Balch, received Nobel Peace Prizes for their antiwar work. Today, WILPF has sections in over 40 countries, branches in more than 100 United States communities, and consultative status at the United Nations. Click here for more information about WILPF International: www.wilpf.org | Cape Cod WILPF, formed in 1986, believes that CHANGING OUR WORLD BEGINS AT HOME! We work in our communities for social and economic justice and for an end to racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression and violence. We are also connected to other women in this country and around the world who seek a truly secure, just and peaceful world order. Our branch works through education and non-violent direct action, lobbying, and by holding programs, workshops and conferences on issues of concern to Cape Cod and the wider world. |
